When Blockchain Meets Content Credentials: A New Way to Prove Ownership

Discover how we enhanced C2PA's verify-site tool to display content credentials alongside blockchain ownership information.

Content authenticity has never been more critical. With copycats stealing product images and unauthorized sellers making false ownership claims, creators need verifiable proof of their original work. The ability to prove when you created something and that you own it is essential for winning disputes, filing takedowns, and protecting your creative assets. That’s why we’re excited to share our latest contribution to the content authenticity ecosystem: blockchain verification directly built into C2PA’s verify-site tool.

The foundation: C2PA content credentials

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) has established a powerful standard for attaching verifiable information to digital content. Their verify-site tool allows anyone to inspect these “content credentials”—secure records that travel with images, videos, and other media to prove their origin and edit history.

When creators register their content on a blockchain—a permanent, tamper-proof digital ledger—they create an immutable record of when they made it, adding an additional layer of verification. We built a way to embed these blockchain records directly into content credentials, and created a custom verification interface that displays them together. This means creators can now bundle their content’s creation history with their blockchain record in one unified, verifiable package.

Try it yourself

Experience the enhanced verification tool by using Mintall Keep to protect your product images. Mintall Keep automatically creates C2PA content credentials with blockchain ownership information embedded directly into your images.

Once you’ve protected an image with Mintall Keep, you’ll get a direct link to view it on the enhanced verification tool. Alternatively, you can download your protected images and upload them to credentials.mintall.ai/verify to see both the content credentials and blockchain verification displayed together in one place.

Empowering creators to stop copycats

This enhancement represents our commitment to giving creators the tools they need to protect their original work. By connecting C2PA’s content credentials with blockchain’s permanent ownership records, we’re creating a powerful verification system where:

  • Creators can prove original ownership with legal-grade evidence for DMCA takedowns and disputes
  • Brands can stop copycats from stealing product images and making false ownership claims
  • Platforms can quickly verify legitimate rights holders and process takedown requests with confidence

As unauthorized copying and copycat sellers continue to proliferate across marketplaces, establishing undeniable proof of creation before theft happens is more important than ever. We’re proud to contribute tools that shift the power back to original creators and look forward to seeing how the community builds on this foundation.
